Super Rare Tesla Fordite

Incredibly rare fordite from the tesla body shops harvested this year. Fordite, also known as detroit agate or motor city agate, is old automotive paint which has hardened sufficiently to be cut and polished.

It was formed from the buildup of layers of enamel paint slag on tracks and skids on which cars were spray-painted (a now automated process), which have been baked numerous times. The inspiration for the name is obvious, fordite was first collected at ford motor company in michigan in the 1940s. But the name the name now generally refers to any material composed of paint slag from various automotive plants. This is from the fremont tesla factory from last years production.

Not only is it rare to obtain fordite from this factory, but blocks of this thickness are seldom seen. The material cuts and polishes easily and after sanding to a high grit, it can be wet sanded and polished with automotive cutting and polishing paste, buffed to a shine like a new car.
